Marius Hvitmyhr - from trainee to partner
Marius visited us as a trainee during his student days, and then he started as a legal assistant in Svensson Nøkleby right after he finished his studies in 2012. Today he works mainly as a constructive conflict resolver and with litigation before the courts, especially in the fields of real estate, contract law and tort law, where he has experience with large and complex real estate and contract disputes as well as tort and liability cases. Furthermore, he has a lot of experience with reviewing public decisions and compensation cases against the public sector.
Marius wanted to become a lawyer because he liked the role of advisor and problem solver. Helping to resolve conflicts and give advice to people and companies who are in demanding situations was central to his choice. He also believes that qualities such as thoroughness, structure and professional strength are very important qualities for being a good lawyer and advisor to clients.
Marius says:
I was given early responsibility to follow up my own cases, and quickly became interested in bringing cases to court. Since then, there have been a large number of civil disputes before the district courts and the Court of Appeal. A preliminary highlight of his career was litigation before the Supreme Court in 2016.
I think the desire to become a partner in the company has come as I gained experience and security in the role of lawyer. I had no clear thoughts about this when I started in the company.
The role of lawyer is changing with the introduction of new technology, new requirements for efficiency and new requirements for the customer experience. When asked how he thinks the role of lawyer will develop in the future, Marius answers:
I believe the market is constantly demanding an increasing degree of cutting-edge expertise and industry understanding. I also think the market appreciates lawyers who can see the bigger picture, and thus contribute more than solving the specific cases. The cases are also becoming increasingly complex, and this requires that lawyers are able to understand other subjects than just law.
Chairman of the board Bjarte Røyrvik describes Marius as a role model and a result of the talent development in Svensson Nøkleby. He says:
Marius has worked hard and purposefully, he has acquired knowledge and experience, and has found his style as a consultant and lawyer. He works a lot with conflict resolution and procedure, but also has the ability to see and create solutions before conflicts escalate or escalate.
